Template is nearly in a playable state again on the development server, just finishing off the side bar modules for jobs and subscription. Turned out to be a lot more tedious work getting all the modules made than I expected.

So the development server will most likely go back up tonight although the template will not be customizable until my edit template interface is complete. Also the active combat log at the top will not be functioning just yet either.

I'd like the edit template options page to be very intuitive and easy to use, maybe involving dragging and dropping modules where you want them to display. So that will take quite some work to perfect. The active combat log shouldn't take long though as it's just an extension of side chat.

Going to be away Friday - Monday which will delay my work a bit, but still making good progress. Just to stress that the old templates are being removed with this update, the whole template engine is being re-designed and can no longer support them in its new form.

As you can see in the screenshot below the new template comes with a drop down menu system allowing us to put more links at the top of your page and seperate them from sectors. Lots of previously locked pages will become available while in the Wasteland.

Checking your messages, browsing the forums and accessing both Clan and Gang control panels will be possible without having to leave the wasteland. No need to worry about missing the action though, not if you have the active combat log enabled!

If you're in the wasteland but away from the page your active combat log at the top right of the template will turn in to a real time warfare display. So you will not miss a thing!

Work is still underway with the new template but I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Still have a few more modules to add and the drop down menu to finish then the development server will be back up so it can all be fully tested. The template editor will be added later.


No longer will we tell you what browsers to use, the new template is written in XHTML Strict coding and has been fully tested in Firefox, IE, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. So take your pick!

Work continues on the development server, information on what I'm working on can be found below. It will go back up for extensive testing once the system is built to the point the game is once again useable, which may be another day or two yet. Since my last blog I've clocked around 24+ hours working on it though.

Legacy : Version 1.7.0 : Features
No longer will you need to choose between a small list of templates. You'll now only have one but it is new, shinny and very customizable!

Proper Template Wallpaper.
Any orientation, any color, any image on the internet. No restrictions.

Real Time Stats
Want to watch your HP go down as people attack you or your credits go up as people send you cash. Now you can and you don't even need to refresh!

Accent Color Control
Don't like the default blue titles and links? ... now you have over 16 million colors to choose from instead.

Page Width
The new template can run at 1000 pixels wide with 2 side bars, or 800 pixels wide with 1 side bar. Whichever fits your resolution best.

Active Log
Watch what happens to you in real time, see who is attacking you as it happens along with lots of other stuff. Don't like it? ...turn it off!

Side Bar Modules
You'll now be able to control exactly what you see in your side bars. Move anything or hide anything... side chat and subscription box included!

Faster Page Loads
The pages contain very little information as they fully utilize style sheets, meaning they load much faster. They also don't stretch or distort when loading like some of the current templates and are saved in server memory so will load even faster than 0.00 seconds!

Still a lot of work to do on this new system, so I expect to be working on it and test it on the dev server for a while.
